Harassment in the Workplace: Sexual, Hostile and Demeaning Comments

Does your organization really live out harassment policies, or are these policies just place-holders in the company handbook? When employees and managers do not understand the dynamics of harassment or realize the need for a comprehensive policy to be lived day to day, they may open the door for lawsuits and other liabilities. This program helps supervisors and managers reduce organizational risk by eliminating harassment and fostering a more comfortable and egalitarian work environment.

At the end of this program, you will understand:

  • The components of a comprehensive sexual harassment program.
  • How to identify different forms of harassment (and the incurred liability) through assessment tools, case histories and other scenarios.
  • The role that power plays in sexual harassment – to be really understood this connection must be experienced at an emotional level.
  • Sexual harassment has an addictive component that makes it nearly impossible to resolve with policy or procedures – and there are actions that can be taken to connect with the addicted harasser.
  • How to support change in yourself and in others to engender a culture of accountability and responsibility in which harassment is much less likely.
  • How to apply the knowledge and experience gained in the program by formulating an individual, in-depth action plan and committing to eliminating harassment and discrimination in the workplace.

Who Will Benefit

The program is for employees, supervisors and managers who understand the importance of providing a work environment that accepts differences and safeguards employees as well as the organizations. Next, consider attending Inclusion, Diversity, and Social Justice.
